I can confirm that both 300V Automotive and Powersports product remain just as synthetic as they’ve been in the past, them being a combination of Grp III, Grp IV and Grp V base oils.
Regardless of the above, MOTUL SA decided to drop the 100% Synthetic claim on both lines in order to avoid the maintenance/creation of dedicated SKUs for the German market, given the limitations imposed over there to the use of said definition (one can only claim 100%, Fully-Synthetic or Synthetic a 34XX HS-code type of lubricant, meaning one that is mostly made out of PAO, PAG, Esters or ANs or combinations thereof, “mostly” actually being >= 70%).
Bear in mind that on the Powersports end, not only they did remove the 100% synthetic but also removed the Factory Line name (which is odd, because they didn’t remove that from the material description).
So far, since the introduction of these changes (2021 for Automotive and 2023 for Powersports) I took shy of 10 calls on the tech support line. My explanation has been that the removal of these claims was done for delivering a simpler label that allowed the company more room for compliance elements while, at the same time, providing a chance to promote/market the EsterCore technology brand (which we don’t, but that is another topic).
